Manchester United, Tottenham, and West Ham United have reportedly enquired about Genoa defensive sensation Koni De Winter.
Koni De Winter’s impressive performances at Genoa have put him on the radar of multiple top clubs from across Europe. His future will be one of the biggest talking points next summer, and the Serie A club will certainly struggle to keep hold of the Belgian prospect.
According to a report from Tuttomercatoweb, Manchester United, Tottenham Hotspur, and West Ham United are three Premier League clubs that are interested in signing the Belgian international. All three clubs have already established contact to learn more about a potential transfer.
Koni De Winter moved to Italy back in 2018 to join the Juventus youth setup. While the youngster did get promoted to their first team in the summer of 2023, they could not guarantee him regular game time. As a result, he ended up joining Genoa on loan that summer itself.
On the back of a successful loan campaign, Genoa signed him on a permanent basis last summer in a deal worth just €8 million plus €3 million. The 22-year-old is considered to be one of the best young defenders in Italy, and his performances have helped him break into the Belgian national team.
While his contract at the Serie A club runs until the summer of 2028, they will struggle to keep hold of Koni De Winter for long. Genoa are well aware of the increasing interest in his signature and would be ready to sanction his departure if an interested club tables an offer worth €30 million.
De Winter could move to the Premier League?
Apart from the Serie A clubs, Manchester United, Tottenham Hotspur, and West Ham United are all pushing for Koni De Winter, and they can certainly meet Genoa’s demands. The Red Devils have already added quite a few young defenders to their setup over the last two transfer windows, but they seek more quality and depth.
Ruben Amorim is not convinced that the academy players can step up; as a result, they want to sign young stars with massive potential for the long run. The Hammers see the 22-year-old as an ideal option to bolster their defence in the short as well as long run.
Meanwhile, Tottenham want more options at the back despite having some world-class centre-backs. Micky van de Ven’s recurring injuries have become a concern for Ange Postecoglou. They feel Koni De Winter could help their cause.
Many clubs have enquired about the Belgian defender in recent weeks, with Manchester United, Tottenham, and West Ham among those showing interest. While other top clubs want to sign him, he will certainly give priority to the more ambitious project as he looks to take the next step in his career. The contacts have already been made, and the bidding war will be underway once the window opens.
