Chelsea have enquired about the availability of Feyenoord defensive mainstay David Hancko amidst interest from rivals Tottenham.
Chelsea and Tottenham are both keen on signing David Hancko. Both London clubs are amongst the front-runners for his signature, but according to a report from TEAMtalk, the Blues have stepped up their pursuit in recent weeks. They have established contact to learn more about the player.
Hancko has only gone from strength to strength since joining Feyenoord from Sparta Prague. He has established himself as one of their mainstays. The 27-year-old has been featured in a total of 130 matches, and he even has 27 goal contributions to his name.
While he prefers playing in the heart of the defence, the Slovakian international can even feature on the left flank when needed. His consistent performances in the Eredivisie and the UEFA Champions League have put him on the radar of some of the biggest clubs in the world, who could soon battle it out for his signature.
David Hancko’s contract at the Dutch club runs until the summer of 2028, but he is unlikely to be around for long, as Juventus, Chelsea, and Tottenham are all after his signature. The Serie A giants have already been in contact with his representatives as they look to take the lead in the race.
London clubs to battle for Hancko
Both London clubs have been closely monitoring David Hancko since the start of the season as they look to add him to their squad. Chelsea seek more experience at the back, and the 27-year-old could end up being the leader of their defence.
As far as Tottenham are concerned, they want quality as well as depth. Despite having some top talents at his disposal, Ange Postecoglou has struggled because of injuries to key defenders. He wants to avoid a similar scenario next time out, and an experienced campaigner like Hancko could certainly bolster his backline.
While both clubs have stepped up their interest in recent weeks, Chelsea are the ones who are pushing really hard to sign him. The Blues have identified him as a top summer target, and they have already made contact to explore a potential transfer, reaffirming their admiration for him in the process. Feyenoord won’t mind cashing in on him, but they will only do so if their asking price of around €50 million is met.
