Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City are in advanced negotiations to secure the signing of Scottish goalkeeping sensation Ben Vickery.
According to a report from Football Insider, Ben Vickery could soon make the move to Manchester City as Pep Guardiola’s team have already opened talks to sign the Scottish goalkeeper. They are in advanced talks with Hibernian, and the deal is believed to be in the final stages as City have tabled a contract offer to the youngster.
City have established themselves as one of the biggest clubs in the country. While a lot of their success is down to the stars they have signed and the tactical genius of Guardiola, the Manchester-based club have also made significant strides in developing their youth academy.
Apart from the exceptional facilities that they offer to their youth teams, they have a great pathway to the first team and are constantly on the lookout for young players with massive potential. They have identified Ben Vickery as an ideal fit for their long-term project and want to add him to their youth ranks.
Vickery is quite highly rated at Easter Road. The 16-year-old is currently a part of Hibernian’s Under-18s, while he has also represented Scotland at the Under-16 level. He has massive potential, and quite a few clubs from across Europe have been closely following his progress.
City closing in on Vickery’s signature
Manchester City scouts have been making regular checks on the teenager for a while. They feel he could be a great addition to their youth team. As a result, the club have decided to go after his signature. They have already opened talks to bring him to Manchester.
Those talks are now believed to be in advanced stages as City look to continue their policy of signing the best young talents from around the globe. They have already submitted a contract offer to the Scottish youth international, as negotiations over a transfer are nearly complete.
While there are other clubs that are keen on his signature, City’s youth facilities and a clear roadmap to the first team could convince him about the move.
