Simone Inzaghi’s Inter Milan are plotting a raid on West Ham United for their defensive sensation Jean-Clair Todibo.
Inter Milan are all set to undergo massive changes ahead of next season. They will look to freshen things up by signing younger stars, which will ultimately help them lower their wage bill. Reinforcing their backline is going to be one of their priorities, and they have found someone who could end up being a perfect fit in Simone Inzaghi’s system.
According to a report from InterLive, Inter are looking to make a move for Jean-Clair Todibo, who hasn’t really had the best of times since moving to the Premier League. They could look to sign him on loan with an option to make the move permanent.
After failing to impress at Barcelona, Todibo made a name for himself with his consistent performances for OGC Nice. His consistent performances had put him on the wishlist of quite a few top clubs from across Europe. West Ham eventually won the race and signed him last summer.
While it is a loan deal, there is an obligation to buy, which depends on certain conditions. The Hammers certainly had high expectations from the 25-year-old, but things haven’t really gone according to plan. He has been involved in just 19 games, and only 12 of those have been starts.
Inter plot a move for Todibo
Todibo has struggled with consistency, and if his form at West Ham continues on its current trajectory, Inter could seize the opportunity to sign him. They seek more quality at the back and consider him an ideal fit for their back-three setup.
He could end up being the perfect long-term replacement for Francesco Acerbi. Inter could look to sign him on loan next summer with an option to make the move permanent, depending on how he adjusts to life in Milan. The 25-year-old was on the radar of Juventus last summer.
While the Bianconeri made an attempt, they ultimately failed to sign him from Nice and instead brought in Pierre Kalulu. Juventus might not have succeeded in bringing him to the Serie A, but Inter could still make it happen in the upcoming transfer window.
