Newcastle United will demand a fee of at least €50-55 million to consider the prospect of selling Sandro Tonali amid his links with AC Milan.
According to Calciomercato, AC Milan are still in the mix for Sandro Tonali, as Rossoneri are deciding whether or not to bring their former midfielder back. Newcastle United are not shutting the door on a potential sale of the Italian midfielder, although they will demand at least €50-55 million to even consider negotiating with the Serie A giants.
Sandro Tonali has found his footing at Newcastle United after an extremely difficult start to life on Tyneside, which was dominated by the long-term ban for his betting activities. The midfielder spent most of last season without kicking the ball for Eddie Howe’s side, although he has returned to the fold in a big way.
He is a starter under Howe at St. James’ Park, forming a solid midfield partnership with Bruno Guimaraes and Joelinton until the latter’s injury. Newcastle United were not willing to consider offers around January when the Italian international did attract a lot of interest from Serie A.
AC Milan had considered re-signing him earlier in the season, but they had other priorities ahead of the winter transfer window. However, the Rossoneri are back into the equation to bring Sandro Tonali back to San Siro, although the operation might be expensive for their taste.
Newcastle United are not shutting the door on a potential sale, but they will reportedly demand at least €50-55 million to even consider the prospect of a departure. The Magpies are interested in Malick Thiaw, with Milan reportedly open to the possibility of an exchange. The San Siro outfit value the defender at around €35 million, as per the report.
Could Sandro Tonali leave AC Milan?
The lure of the Premier League proved difficult for Tonali to turn down, and it is safe to say he has adapted to the league quite well. While there were links to Juventus in January, a departure from Newcastle United was not seen as a realistic option back then, and that might be the case from the midfielder’s perspective.
He would still want to set the tone at Newcastle United for years, although the PSR rules could force the Magpies into selling some of their top stars, including Tonali. Should that be the case, the midfielder will not oppose a return to Milan, although the €50-55 million might be prohibitive for the Rossoneri.
