Newcastle United enter Samu Aghehowa chase

Newcastle United are in the mix for Samu Aghehowa, and a host of other Premier League rivals are chasing the prolific FC Porto striker.

According to Caught Offside, Newcastle United have added Samu Aghehowa to their list of striker targets ahead of the summer. The Magpies could be in the market for a new striker should they lose Alexander Isak to one of the bigger clubs, as the FC Porto man is one of the names under consideration for the Magpies.

Newcastle United faces yet another tricky summer window. Eddie Howe will want to keep hold of his best performers and add to his exciting squad. For instance, there will be links to star players like Alexander Isak, Bruno Guimaraes, and Anthony Gordon, as the Magpies boss will want the trio to stay, especially the Swede.

Isak has been the main force in their attack this season after another prolific campaign. Plenty of top clubs are already chasing his signature, with Arsenal and Liverpool thought to be the main contenders ahead of the summer. The Swede’s departure would leave a big void to be filled with a new striker who guarantees total output.

Newcastle United are linked with Hugo Ekitike, the Frenchman seen as a player close to Isak’s profile. Sporting CP hitman Viktor Gyokeres is also on their list, and either of those two players will be expensive, as such, as the market for strikers in the summer will be.

Newcastle United have now added Samu Aghehowa to their list of targets. The FC Porto star has had another prolific season in the front line. He joined the Portuguese giants in the summer after a move to Chelsea broke down, and Newcastle United are now looking closely at the idea of bringing the Spaniard to St James Park as a potential replacement for Isak.

Newcastle United faces the Samu Aghehowa competition

Newcastle United might have big competition in the market for the signing of Aghehowa. The 19-goal striker has interest from Arsenal, Chelsea, and Aston Villa, with either of those teams looking for a new striker to lead the line. The Gunners, in particular, are looking for a new No.9 and have the Porto man on their rather distinguished list of targets.

Porto are open to selling Aghehowa for less than his €100 million release clause, which has Aston Villa showing an interest as Unai Emery seeks a proper Jhon Duran replacement in the summer. Chelsea already have relations with Aghehowa’s camp following their failure to land him last summer, as they are also in the mix for the 19-goal striker.
