Arsenal competing with Chelsea, Aston Villa and West Ham United for Samu Aghehowa

Arsenal are in the mix for Samu Aghehowa alongside a number of their Premier League rivals ahead of the summer for the FC Porto forward.

According to Caught Offside, Arsenal have an extensive list of top striker targets ahead of next summer, as they have added Samu Aghehowa to that list. The Gunners are in the market for a top marksman, with Aston Villa, Chelsea and West Ham United in the mix for the prolific FC Porto star.

Samu Aghehowa may have had a different season had his move to Chelsea gone through smoothly. As the young Spanish striker looked set to join the Stamford Bridge outfit from Atletico Madrid, complications arose at different levels leading to the deal collapsing, as FC Porto made their move and have been pleased with the outcome.

Compared to what Chelsea were paying for the Atletico Madrid striker, Porto have paid considerably less, although the deal includes a hefty sell-on clause. Aghehowa’s current contract has a €100 million release clause, although Porto might be open to selling him for less

The report states that Aghehowa is valued at around €50 million, and it remains to be seen which clubs are open to paying that much. Meanwhile, he has no shortage of interest, as the 19-goal attacker has some top Premier League sides chasing for his signature. Aston Villa are interested, as Unai Emery will want another young striker in the ranks after selling Jhon Duran in January to Al-Nassr.

Villa does face competition from the likes of three London clubs, as West Ham are one of those in the market for a new striker and could make their move for the 19-goal attacker from FC Porto. Chelsea have also scouted Aghehowa recently, as they are in the mood to rekindle their interest in the prolific young Spaniard.

Arsenal are interested in Samu Aghehowa

Arsenal’s need for a striker is a well-documented affair, as the Gunners are suffering from a top presence up top following their inability to land a forward and the many injuries that have taken over. Mikel Arteta is likely to bring a young forward despite links to the likes of Ollie Watkins and Alexander Isak, although it is Benjamin Sesko who appears to be their top target

The Gunners could also consider Aghehowa for the same reasons they are keen on Sesko, as the Porto star does have many traits that Arteta wants from his new forward. Arsenal are also in a good position to pay what it takes to land the Spanish forward, as the likes of Sesko or Isak are likely to be expensive compared to Aghehowa.
