Newcastle United have already been linked with Burnley’s James Trafford as a possible replacement. The young goalkeeper has impressed despite Burnley’s struggles in the Premier League, and his potential arrival could make Pope surplus to requirements at St. James’ Park.

Former Manchester United and Sunderland scout Mick Brown, who remains well-connected within football’s recruitment circles, believes that Newcastle will actively pursue a new No. 1 if they receive the right offer for Pope.
“Newcastle will be open to offers for Pope in the summer,” Brown told Football Insider.
“They’re going to look to upgrade in that position, but finding a quality replacement isn’t easy. The scouting team is working hard to identify options, but it has to be the right fit in terms of ability, availability, and price.”
Newcastle United’s decision to part ways with Pope will ultimately depend on whether they can secure a suitable successor. If a high-profile replacement is signed, the club will likely allow Pope to leave, with several Premier League clubs expected to show interest in the experienced goalkeeper.
