Everton, Newcastle United in transfer tussle to sign Luis Henrique

Everton and Newcastle United are both keen on acquiring the services of

Luis Henrique has made quite a name for himself with his impressive performances for

Henrique joined the Ligue 1 giants in the summer of 2020 from Três Passos. While things did not work out for him at Marseille in the initial years and he even had an 18-month-long loan spell at Botafogo, it has started to click for him under the guidance of Roberto De Zerbi.

The 23-year-old Brazilian winger has been in sensational form over the last 12 months. He has been involved in a total of 25 matches this season and has contributed towards 15 goals (9 goals, 6 assists). While the youngster prefers playing out wide on the left flank, the former Brighton boss has also used him as a right wing-back as well as in the number ten role.

Luis Henrique has excelled in all those positions, and his consistent performances have attracted a lot of interest. Clubs from the Premier League have been keeping a close eye on him. Everton and Newcastle United are two clubs who have taken note of his work and would love to add him to their squad.

The Magpies seek more firepower in the final third. They are currently pushing for a top-four finish and would love to further strengthen their squad ahead of next season. Luis Henrique could prove to be a great investment in the short as well as the long run.

While Everton did not have the best of starts, they have recovered after the arrival of David Moyes. They are eyeing a top-half finish and have already started planning for the next transfer window. Moyes wants more quality on the flanks and he would love to have someone like Henrique in his squad as he can feature on either flank.

Both Newcastle United and Everton have watched him in action in recent weeks which suggests they have serious interest in him. The 23-year-old is considered to be one of the best young attackers from Brazil and he can certainly bolster both English clubs. With they ready to battle it out, it will be interesting to see who comes out on top.
