Crystal Palace are plotting a raid on Championship outfit Watford for the signature of their midfield mainstay Edo Kayembe.
According to a report from AfricaFoot, Crystal Palace are interested in the services of Edo Kayembe who has been a consistent performer for Watford over the years. The Eagles are keeping a close eye on him and could launch a move for him ahead of next season.
Kayembe joined Watford at the start of 2022 from KAS Eupen and hasn’t looked back since. The DR Congo international has established himself as a key figure in their first team and has racked up over 100 appearances. While he prefers playing as a defensive midfielder, he can play a touch further up in the midfield as well as out wide on the flanks.
He has featured in a total of 32 Championship games this season and has contributed towards eight goals. The 26-year-old’s consistent performances and his ability to feature in multiple roles have put him on the radar of top clubs from across Europe.
The Eagles will go after Kayembe’s signature
Crystal Palace are one of the clubs who have taken note of his performances. They have been closely monitoring him for some time and are plotting a raid on Watford to sign the Congo international.
While the Eagles haven’t been at their best, they should still manage to retain their spot in the English top flight. Oliver Glasner has identified quite a few areas that will need reinforcement ahead of next season and adding more quality to the midfield is one of his top priorities.
People at the club admire Kayembe who can feature anywhere in the centre of the park and would love to have him on their team. He has taken his game to another level since joining Watford and even has some experience playing in the Premier League making him an ideal fit for them.
With his contract running out in the summer of 2026, he will only have a year left on his deal next summer giving Palace a chance to strike a deal. The 26-year-old is entering his prime years as a footballer, making this the ideal time to make a move for him.
