Enzo Maresca’s Chelsea are reportedly ready to battle it out with Barcelona for the signature Liverpool attacking sensation Luis Diaz.
Chelsea are constantly on the lookout for players who can further bolster their ranks and according to a report from Fichajes, the Blues are keen on acquiring the services of Luis Diaz. They are willing to battle it out with Barcelona for the signature of the Liverpool star.
After making a name for himself at FC Porto, Diaz joined the Merseyside club at the start of 2022. The South American attacker has taken his game to another level since moving to England, and he has established himself as a key figure in their team.
Diaz has been involved in 36 games in the ongoing campaign, and he has contributed towards 16 goals. While the Colombian international is an integral part of Arne Slot’s team, his future has often been up in the air.
Luis Diaz has been linked with a move away from the club over the last few transfer window. His contract at Anfield runs until the summer of 2027, but he could be on the move if Liverpool receive an ideal offer for his services.
While the priority for the Reds is to bring in someone who can help replace the exit-linked Mohamed Salah in the long run, they won’t mind sanctioning the departure of the Colombian for the right fee as it could help reshape their attack for the future.
Chelsea and Barcelona are both keen on signing Diaz
Chelsea are ready to offer Luis Diaz an opportunity to continue in England. The Blues want to further bolster their attack next season and they would love to have the 28-year-old in their squad. He possesses blistering pace, the skill to take on defenders, and a lethal finishing ability, making him a perfect fit for their team.
But, the Blues are not the only ones keen on his signature as Barcelona are also interested in signing him. The Catalan giants want to add more firepower to their attack. The Blaugrana want someone who can add more goals to the mix and bolster the flanks, Diaz can certainly help their cause and they have been monitoring him for some time now.
While Chelsea and Barcelona are both ready to battle it out for him, they are not going to find it easy as Liverpool will only let him leave if they receive a significant financial offer. If either club manages to meet the demands of the Reds, the final decision will depend on the player’s own sporting ambitions. He might prefer staying in the Premier League but the option to move to Spain will certainly tempt him.
