Barcelona are interested in signing Jeremy Doku as the Belgian is among a host of targets for Hansi Flick to consider ahead of the summer.
According to Fichajes, Jeremy Doku features on Barcelona’s list of wide attackers they want to bring in during the summer. The Belgians had a difficult season, as the Catalans believed they could persuade him, although convincing Manchester City would prove complicated.
Barcelona may have found a solution to their financial problem that could potentially allow them some room to operate in the summer transfer window. The Catalans are one of the biggest clubs in the world and are currently embarking on an exciting project under Hansi Flick, as the German manager will be keen to add to his attacking options.
The Catalans have been looking for a left winger since last summer, and that might become their priority in the close season. They do have a host of big-name wingers to consider, that also includes last summer’s target Nico Williams, who reportedly remains keen to join Barcelona despite Premier League interest.
They also hold an interest in Marcus Rashford, with the Manchester United star reportedly open to joining Barcelona if they were to approach in the summer. Another player the Catalans are keen on also plays in Manchester, as they are keen to target Jeremy Doku as a potential option.
Doku has had a tough season much like many of his Manchester City teammates, yet he remains one of the important stars for Pep Guardiola. He has four goals and six assists this season for the club while also battling a variety of injury issues. Doku’s entourage denied rumours linking the Belgians to Barcelona during the January window, but that does not mean the clubs are not intersted.
Will Barcelona sign Jeremy Doku from Manchester City?
Barcelona are hopeful of signing one left winger at the very least next summer and believes they can convince the 22-year-old Manchester City star to make the move. The bigger issue in this case comes in the form of convincing Manchester City to sell, as they may not feel the need to do so at this stage of the Belgian’s career.
Manchester City have proved themselves reasonable when it comes to dealing with other clubs on player transfers. They rarely go against the player’s will to keep him at the club, and that might extend to Doku should he ask to join Barcelona. However, the price tag that Guardiola’s side may place on the 22-year-old might make or break Barcelona’s resolve, considering they will not want to pay a huge fee.
