West Ham United will reportedly look to sign 22-year-old Ukrainian midfielder Georgiy Sudakov from Shakhtar Donetsk in the summer transfer window.
According to a report by Give Me Sport, Georgiy Sudakov is the subject of interest from West Ham United. The Hammers have been scouring the market for a productive midfielder heading into the summer transfer window. So, the Shakhtar Donetsk prospect has emerged as a target, with the Ukrainian giants demanding around €65 million to part ways with the youngster.
The rising stock of Georgiy Sudakov
Georgiy Sudakov has been one of the best young midfielders in the world since breaking into the first-team squad at Shakhtar Donetsk a few years ago. A native of Bryanka, the youngster began his youth career in his hometown. After a short spell at Metalist Kharkiv, he graduated from the academy at Shakhtar Donetsk.
The 22-year-old has been productive in the final third for Shakhtar Donetsk, and he has continued performing at a high level for his club. Sudakov has contributed to 13 goals in 25 appearances across all competitions, finding the back of the net ten times and providing three assists.
Meanwhile, Sudakov’s progress has not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of several high-profile clubs across Europe. Premier League bigwigs, in particular, are keen on signing the Ukrainian international, with West Ham United among the prospective suitors for his signature in the summer transfer window.
London calling?
West Ham United’s interest in Georgiy Sudakov makes sense. While Guido Rodriguez and Carlos Soler bolstered the midfield unit at the London Stadium last summer, neither player has stamped his authority. In addition, Edson Alvarez and Tomas Soucek face an uncertain future at the East London club.
So, several candidates, including Brais Mendez, have emerged on West Ham United’s radar, with Sudakov also a viable target. However, Shakhtar Donetsk’s asking price of €65 million might complicate matters for the East London outfit heading into the summer transfer window.
It is unclear if West Ham will be willing to cough up €65 million to sign the 22-year-old Ukrainian international in the summer transfer window. So, it will be interesting to see what the future has in store for the highly-rated midfielder.
