Chelsea make enquiry for Rafael Leao

Enzo Maresca’s Chelsea have enquired about the availability of AC Milan attacking sensation Rafael Leao.

Despite having spent a fortune on reinforcing their squad over the last few years, Chelsea remain in the market for more quality. According to a report from TBR, the Blues are interested in the services of AC Milan star Rafael Leao and have asked to be kept informed about his situation.

Soon after coming up the ranks and breaking into Sporting’s first team, Leao made the move to LOSC Lille. A successful season in France earned him a move to Italian giants AC Milan in the summer of 2019. The Portuguese international has featured in close to 250 matches for them and has contributed towards 124 goals.

The 25-year-old left winger has a total of 17 goal contributions this season. While he hasn’t been as consistent as one would like him to be, Leao has certainly made quite a name for himself. Multiple top clubs from across Europe admire him and Chelsea are one of them.

Chelsea want to sign AC Milan star Leao

The Blues have an abundance of talent on the flanks. They are home to some of the best young wingers in the world despite that, they are constantly on the lookout for players who could further bolster their squad.

While the London club will have to fork out £25 million to make Jadon Sancho’s move permanent and Estevao Willian will also be joining them next summer, they are still interested in Rafael Leao’s services. People at Stamford Bridge are massive admirers of the youngster and they feel his pace and his ability to take on defenders could wonders for them.

As a result, they are considering making a move for him ahead of next season. The Blues were involved in talks with Milan in the final weeks of the winter window as they were finalising Joao Felix’s move to the Italian outfit. During those talks, Chelsea asked to be kept informed about Leao’s situation.

While Milan have pointed towards his contract that runs until the summer of 2028 suggesting that they do not intend to sell, the London club’s financial strength and Leao’s stance could have a massive say on his future.
