Manchester City battle Liverpool, Manchester United in Xavi Simons chase

Manchester City are set to rival other Premier League giants for the signing of Xavi Simons, who could be made available in the summer.

According to Mundo Deportivo, Xavi Simons could be made available for sale as there are plenty of indications that his future does not lie with RB Leipzig. Manchester City are among those keen to sign the 21-year-old Bundesliga playmaker, as they are willing to compete with the likes of Manchester United and Liverpool.

Xavi Simons found himself in an unusual position as former side PSG were keen to find a solution during the January market for their loan conundrum. The Parisians and RB Leipzig agreed on a fee to make his loan signing permanent, although he only signed a deal until 2027, which does raise a few questions.

One thing that has become abundantly clear is that RB Leipzig does not view this signing for the long-term future. They might have found themselves in a fortunate position with the 21-year-old Bundesliga playmaker and chose to make his signing permanent, as there are big signs that they would be eager to sell him in the summer

The report states that Leipzig signed him for €50 million and might be open to selling for €70 million, which does represent a decent profit on their investment. They may not have to look too far to find suitors, as Manchester United and Liverpool are among those chasing the 21-year-old Bundesliga playmaker,

Liverpool are eager to bring a top young name into the mix, as Simons’ versatility might tick a big box in Arne Slot’s mind. Manchester United have watched him lately, as they have a long-standing interest in the attacker, although it remains to be seen whether either side are willing to make a big offer that suits RB Leipzig.

Manchester City to compete for Xavi Simons

Manchester City on the other hand are financially sound and are capable of paying what it takes to bring Simons or any other player of his ilk to the Etihad. They will enter the summer window looking at players suitable to replace Kevin De Bruyne as the Belgian might draw the curtains on an illustrious career at the club, with names like Charles De Ketelaere linked with a move

Simons could be an interesting option, as Manchester City have had a long-standing interest in the 21-year-old Bundesliga playmaker. They could be in a good position to pay the necessary money to bring the Dutchman and breeze past competitors like Liverpool and Manchester United.
