Manchester United ready to offer €150 million to sign Julian Alvarez

Manchester United are ready to break the bank and fork out €150 million to sign former Manchester City star Julian Alvarez.

According to a report from Fichajes, Manchester United are keen on signing Julian Alvarez, who is doing wonders for Atletico Madrid in his debut campaign in Spain. His name is constantly being discussed in United’s offices, and they are willing to go all out to land him as they are ready to table an offer worth €150 million.

Alvarez came up the ranks and made a name for himself at River Plate before joining Manchester City. While he went from strength to strength under Pep Guardiola, the 25-year-old only got limited game time as the Premier League giants have too many world-class stars up top.

The Argentine World Cup winner ended up joining Atletico Madrid last summer in search of a more prominent role. While it was not really that easy for him to adjust to life in Spain, he slowly got used to things and of late, Alvarez has been firing on all cylinders.

He has 17 goals and four assists in his 37 outings for Diego Simeone’s team. The youngster has cemented himself as a key figure in the team, and he has a contract that runs until the summer of 2030. While Atletico Madrid consider him an integral part of their plans moving forward, they might have to make a massive decision regarding his future, and Manchester United are willing to break the bank for him.

Manchester United to go all out for Alvarez

The Red Devils will be looking to reshape their attack ahead of next season. Marcus Rashford, Antony and Jadon Sancho could all end up securing permanent moves away from Old Trafford. Their departures will create a lot of room for signings, and Ruben Amorim’s team are looking at Alvarez as the ideal option to reshape their attack.

While the Argentine prefers playing as a number nine, he is equally good on the flanks, and his versatility could be of great use to the Portuguese manager. He has already proved himself in the English top flight, so going big on him won’t be that big a risk.

They are looking at a proven goal scorer in him and are willing to table €150 million to bring him back to England. While he is a key figure in Simeone’s team, they will certainly think twice before turning down such a massive offer as they had signed him for just €75 million. It could be a massive opportunity to register significant profit and use the funds to reinforce multiple areas in their squad.
