Chelsea willing to pay €90 million for Kaoru Mitoma

Chelsea are willing to offer €90 million to sign Kaoru Mitoma when the summer window opens as they seek to strengthen their wide attacking areas.

According to Fichajes, Chelsea are plotting a raid on Brighton for their star winger Kaoru Mitoma in the summer. The Blues are reportedly open to making a €90 million offer for the Japanese winger, who was the subject of a rejected bid from Saudi side Al-Nassr in January.

Brighton have more than enough faith in their talents, and certainly in one Kaoru Mitoma. The Seagulls rejected a big offer from Saudi side Al-Nassr, worth a reported €65 million, which signalled their intent to keep the forward. However, the summer window may have something in store with regard to deciding on his future.

Last Sunday, Brighton dispatched off Chelsea in the FA Cup with Mitoma scoring a winger, as the Japanese star was once again instrumental in beating the Blues on Friday night with a sublime goal for the ages. The Stamford Bridge outfit are now readying an offer to test Brighton’s resolve on the Premier League attacker ahead of the summer.

As per the report, Chelsea is open to making an offer worth €90 million to sign Mitoma in the summer. Brighton’s rejection of Al-nassr’s offer may have also got to do with the money on offer, as they might see the prospect of Chelsea coming in the hunt in a positive light.

Chelsea making a move for another Brighton player will be the debate, but offering €90 million will surely have Brighton considering the prospects of a sale. The Blues had held an interest before the January window alongside other clubs, as they are keen to strengthen their wide attacking areas and bring in a replacement for Mykhailo Mudryk.

Chelsea are looking for a wide attacker

Mitoma is one option for Chelsea to look at, while there are others they have set sights on. For instance, the Blues were heavily linked with Alejandro Garnacho, with some quarters being extremely confident of seeing the Argentine at Stamford Bridge before February 3.

The idea of targeting Mitoma showcases that Chelsea are widening its search for a left-sided wide attacker, although Garnacho might remain an option for them in the summer. In any case, they will find a viable player to come in and replace Mudryk or maybe someone else, too.
