Manchester United could make summer move for Jean-Clair Todibo

Manchester United could consider a move for Jean-Cleari Todobi, with reports stating that the West Ham United defender could be made available.

According to Give Me Sport, Manchester United are considering a number of central defenders ahead of the summer following Lisandro Martinez’s injury. Jean-Clair Todibo’s name has been mentioned once again, as the 25-year-old French international might leave West Ham United.

West Ham United made the move for Jean-Clair Todibo from OGC Nice in the summer despite interest from elsewhere. The Frenchman joined in a £34.22 million deal, which is initially a loan agreement with an obligation to buy for the above-mentioned sum. Despite that, the Hammers could part ways with the 25-year-old French international.

Juventus were interested back in the summer and were linked again in January. There have been indications that West Ham are open to offloading the defender next window after they make his signing permanent. Now, Manchester United have been mentioned as a suitor for the 25-year-old French international.

The Red Devils are facing a fresh defensive problem following Lisandro Martinez’s season-ending injury. The Argentine faces a lengthy spell out, as his ACL rupture is likely to keep him sidelined for around ten months or more. Hence, Manchester United will enter the summer market with a top centre-back on top of their transfer wishlist.

They hold a long-standing interest in Jarrad Branthwaite, although Everton are eager to hand him a new deal and have him in the squad ahead of their move into the new stadium. Ruben Amorim is also keen on Sporting CP man Ousmane Diomande, with Manchester United mentioned in the list of suitors for the defender. Both of these names are expected to cost a huge sum, while Jean-Clair Todibo might be comparatively cheaper.

Manchester United considering Todibo

Manchester United were linked with the 25-year-old French international back in the summer following INEOS’s entry into the club. INEOS are well connected with Todibo and could make a move to bring him to Old Trafford, although it will take a good offer from West Ham.

They could use Harry Maguire as a makeshift and hope to trigger the Hammers’ interest in the English defender. The 25-year-old French international is seen as an option for their backline, although any move will depend on their inability to sign priority targets as well as West Ham’s asking price.
