Chelsea, Liverpool, and Manchester City are reportedly interested in Argentine teenage duo Agustin Ruberto and Ian Subiabre, with the duo shining in age-group football.
According to a report by Graeme Bailey on TBR Football, Agustin Ruberto and Ian Subiabre have an emerging market in Europe, with Premier League clubs, in particular, vying for their signatures this year. Chelsea, Manchester City, and Liverpool are keen on signing the Argentine teenage duo, with the latter behind the other English bigwigs in the chase.
Who are Agustin Ruberto and Ian Subiabre?
Agustin Ruberto and Ian Subiabre are the latest prodigies to rise in prominence in their homeland. The former is a native of Buenos Aires and has spent his formative years in his home city, starting his youth career at Barrio Nuevo before joining River Plate as a five-year-old in 2011. Since then, the teenage sensation has come leaps and bounds at the famous club.
The 19-year-old has already broken into the first-team squad at River Plate, turning out 17 times thus far for the Los Millonarios while chipping in with two goals. As for Ian Subiabre, the youngster, born in Comodoro Rivadavia, is a year younger than Ruberto and spent his formative years with three clubs in his homeland. He also made his senior bow last year and has made four appearances for River Plate.
The Argentine teenage duo’s progress has not gone unnoticed, with both players making their mark at the Under-20 South American championship. Their exploits have piqued the attention of several well-known clubs across Europe. Premier League bigwigs, in particular, are keen on signing the youngsters, with Liverpool, Manchester City, and Chelsea interested in them.
High in demand
Agustin Ruberto and Ian Subiabre have been on Chelsea’s radar for a long time. The Blues have been active in the market for highly-rated prodigies, investing heavily in South American prospects. 2025 will witness Estevao Willian and Kendry Paez arriving at Stamford Bridge. So, it is hardly surprising that Ruberto and Subiabre are on Chelsea’s wishlist.
As for Manchester City, Claudio Echeverri has already given them a taste of singing a prodigy River Plate. So, it is hardly surprising that Ruberto and Subiabre are also on City’s radar. Meanwhile, Liverpool will need offensive reinforcement this year amid uncertainties surrounding the long-term futures of Mohamed Salah and Darwin Nunez.
So, Ruberto and Subiabre are viable targets for Liverpool. However, the Reds are behind Chelsea and Manchester City in the race to secure the Argentine teenage duo’s services. So, it will be interesting to see where they land if they arrive in Europe this year.
