Arsenal are eager to explore a summer move for Nico Paz following his impressive season thus far with Como, with Real Madrid also keeping tabs.
According to Fichajes, Arsenal are keen to explore a move for Nico Paz next summer following an impressive season from the Argentine at Serie A side Como. The Gunners are intent on signing a young attacking midfielder for their squad, while Real Madrid are also keeping constant tabs on the 20-year-old midfield sensation.
Nico Paz can rightfully say he has UEFA Champions League and La Liga medals, as he could have had more had he stayed put at Real Madrid beyond last summer. The 20-year-old midfield sensation was only a bit-part player under Carlo Ancelotti at the Santiago Bernabeu, as he chose to leave the Spanish giants for more game time elsewhere.
Serie A minnows Como considered the midfielder a big opportunity, and manager Cesc Fabregas made the push to sign him. It has turned out to be a fantastic decision, as Paz has five goals and four assists in 21 Serie A appearances this season. Arsenal were already interested earlier, and the Gunners are now exploring the idea of signing the 20-year-old midfield sensation next summer.
Mikel Arteta continues to find solutions in the market to complete his squad, as he feels the need for a young attacking midfielder. There were links to Sverre Nypan, who, at one point in January, preferred to sign for the Gunners.
The Norwegian talent has since decided to stay at Rosenborg until the summer, and many clubs, including Arsenal, will be chasing his signature then. However, the Gunners have now added Nico Paz to that list, as they could open talks with Como after the season ends, although they will have a Real Madrid-shaped problem to comprehend.
Real Madrid with an advantage in the chase
Arsenal could also present a solid opportunity for Nico Paz to flourish in his career, as the 20-year-old midfield sensation could even see the club as a good destination for himself. However, there is a potential problem for the Gunners, as Real Madrid may have a considerable say in any potential move, as they hold a 50% sell-on clause as well as a buy-back option for the player.
The sell-on clause effectively forces Como to ask for a massive price in the market, and should a club agree to pay as much is required for Paz, Real Madrid can buy him back and sell for a profit. The Spanish giants are keeping tabs, and it won’t be a surprise if they bring Paz back to the cub and then dictate how his future transpires.
