West Ham United in talks to sign Eli Junior Kroupi, table bid

West Ham United have held talks for highly-rated teenage attacker Eli Junior Kroupi as they wait to know the outcome of their bid for the Lorient striker.

According to a report by Graeme Bailey on TBR Football, West Ham United have held serious talks with intermediaries to tie up a move for Eli Junior Kroupi ahead of the transfer deadline. The Hammers are increasingly desperate to sign a new attacker before Monday, as they have indeed tabled a bid for the 18-year-old French attacking sensation.

West Ham United have a fight on their hands to land a new attacker before Monday’s deadline, as Graham Potter has a shortage of strikers in his squad. Dany Ings is their only recognised and available No.9 at the moment, with the likes of Michail Antonio, Niclas Fullkrug and Jarrod Bowen set to miss out for extended periods.

Evan Ferguson remains a target, and as per the latest update there’s a possibility of the Irish striker arriving before the deadline. There were links to Arthur Cabral, too, with suggestions that West Ham had a bid accepted, as per reports in Portugal.

Irrespective of who arrives, Potter is clearly looking for more than one player in the remainder of the window, as the Hammers also failed with a bid for Ricardo Pepi. West Ham are now considering a move for Eli Junior Kroupi from Ligue 2 side Lorient, as the report states they face big competition from Bournemouth.

Chelsea and Tottenham were also linked with Kroupi recently, and it has not come as a surprise due to his impressive performances this season. The Hammers have held talks via intermediaries for the striker. However, Lorient are not eager to sell the 18-year-old French attacking sensation, for they are angling for a return to Ligue 1, as the attacker with 10 goals this season is viewed as key to their chances.

West Ham in Eli Junior Kroupi bid

As per a report on Football Insider, the Hammers have advanced in their quest to sign Kroupi by tabling a bid worth upto a reported £30 million for the 18-year-old French attacking sensation. Whether that is enough to tempt Lorient to sell remains to be seen, as it does put the Hammers in a strong position for the teenage attacker.

Potter will be hopeful of landing at least two names, and now with Ferguson close, he would not mind adding Kroupi to the mix. The Lorient man’s versatility and ability to play centrally as well as on the wings is a big weapon for Potter to use in the remainder of the season, while the Hammers also get a solid prospect for the future.
