Ruben Amorim’s Manchester United are all set to acquire the services of Atalanta striker El Bilal Toure.
Manchester United have been on the lookout for a new striker since the start of the transfer window. While they have been linked with quite a few top stars, nothing concrete has happened so far. The Red Devils are unlikely to sign any top-class forward in the remaining days but they are making moves to strengthen their team in the long run.
According to a report from Foot Mercato, United are close to securing the services of El Bilal Toure with an eye on the future. With Ruben Amorim unimpressed by the attacking firepower at his disposal, the Red Devils have already started planning for next season. They have a lot of confidence in Toure’s potential and are willing to bet on him.
After impressive spells at Stade Reims and UD Almeria, the 23-year-old striker made the move to Atalanta in the summer of 2023. Unfortunately, the move didn’t work out for him as he failed in replacing Rasmus Hojlund who had made the move to Manchester United.
To get things back on track, the Malian international joined VfB Stuttgart at the start of the season. Things haven’t been that great for him at the German club as he has featured in 13 games and racked up less than 500 minutes.
Manchester United’s search for a new striker
Despite his poor run, multiple still remain keen on signing the young striker and Manchester United are one of them. The Red Devils are willing to bet on him as their manager is not satisfied with the performances of Hojluund and 2024 summer signing Joshua Zirkzee.
With Marcus Rashford and Alejandro Garnacho’s future also uncertain, signing a new forward has been among their top priority. While they have been linked with some of the biggest names in the world of football, the Red Devils are looking at Toure as someone who can strengthen their team in the long run.
United won’t find it easy to sign Toure
They have intensified their efforts to sign the 23-year-old but things are a touch complicated. Despite him only getting a limited amount of first-team action in the first half, Stuttgart are still keen on having him around and they are considering triggering the €18 million buy clause on his deal.
Even if they do trigger the clause, the Red Devils are then looking to sign him in a deal worth €25 million excluding bonuses. He will continue at the Bundesliga outfit until the end of the season before making the move to Old Trafford ahead of next season. It could prove to be a win-win situation for all parties involved.
