Chelsea could once again make an attempt to sign Manchester United star Alejandro Garnacho before the end of the winter window.
According to a report from L’Equipe, Chelsea haven’t given up on their pursuit of Alejandro Garnacho. The Blues’ search for a new winger continues as we head into the final days of the transfer window and they are looking to make another attempt to sign the Manchester United star.
Garnacho has only gone from strength to strength since getting promoted to Manchester United’s first team in the summer of 2022. While he was a key figure in the team under Erik ten Hag, things have gone downhill for him since the arrival of Ruben Amorim.
He hasn’t been a regular starter under the Portuguese manager and has been linked with a move away from the club. Reports suggest his departure could result in a significant financial boost easing some pressure off the Red Devils who are struggling to balance their books.
Chelsea remain keen on signing Garnacho
While he has been linked with a move away and Napoli were quite keen on his signature, nothing concrete has happened so far. Chelsea are also interested in adding him to their squad. The Blues want more quality on the flanks and Garnacho is quite high on their wishlist.
Their initial attempt to sign the 20-year-old didn’t go according to plan. But, they haven’t given up just yet and are looking to return for his signature in the final days of the winter window. The Blues are expected to make another move in the near future.
They have been in talks with Manchester United to find a solution for some time now. While they haven’t been able to make any significant progress, the Blues are looking to return to the negotiation table in the coming hours. United’s demands are quite clear as they want €95 million to part ways with the Argentine international.
Garnacho’s massive wage demand
The asking price is quite high but Chelsea could figure out a way if they manage to get Christopher Nkunku off their books. The Blues will also have to offer him a massive salary. According to Corriere dello Sport via SportWitness, the 20-year-old wants more than €4.5 million per season after tax.
He currently earns just €1.8m per season at Old Trafford and is seeking a massive pay hike to part ways with the Manchester-based giants. While Chelsea do tend to go big in the transfer window to sign players, the overall cost of this transfer will certainly make them think twice.
