Tottenham are holding talks with Mathys Tel’s representatives as they look to sign the Bayern Munich star in the final days of the winter window.
Mathys Tel’s future has become a big talking point. The Bayern Munich star has fallen out with Vincent Kompany and is pushing for a move away from the Allianz Arena in the ongoing transfer window. Chelsea are one of the clubs that have been linked with the French youth international, but according to a report from TBR Football, the teenager has no interest in moving to Stamford Bridge.
While the Frenchman has turned down the move to the Blues, Tel could still end up moving to the Premier League as Tottenham are also keen on his signature. According to Florian Plettenberg, the North London club are in talks with his management regarding a move in the coming days.
Tel made the move to Bayern in the summer of 2022 after making a name for himself at Stade Rennais. While the youngster has featured in 83 matches for the German giants and has contributed towards 23 goals, he has not been able to establish himself as a key figure in their first team.
In the ongoing campaign, he has racked up less than 500 minutes of first-team action, and things are unlikely to improve in the second half as he has fallen out with Vincent Kompany. The French attacking prospect seeks regular first-team action, and he has decided to leave the German club in the final days of the transfer window.
Mathys Tel turn down a move to Chelsea
Multiple top clubs are keen on signing the 19-year-old, who can feature on either flank as well as a number nine. Chelsea are one of the clubs that are interested in his services as they want to reinforce their attack before the window shuts. They were looking to add him to their squad when Bayern Munich enquired about Christopher Nkunku.
However, Tel made it quite clear that he is not convinced about moving to Stamford Bridge. While the topic has come around once again, the player’s stance remains the same. He might have turned down the opportunity to join Chelsea but the teenager could still end up in London as Tottenham are after his signature.
Tottenham in talks with Tel’s agents
The North London club are struggling in the Premier League, and an injury crisis at the club has played a massive part in it. Tottenham seek reinforcement and signing a new forward is amongst their top priority. Tel is an ideal fit for them as he can feature anywhere in attack.
Spurs are very keen on his signature, and they are in direct talks with the player’s representatives following his decision to leave Bayern Munich. While the player has yet to decide on his future and the race remains open, Tottenham are pushing hard to convince him.
