Fulham close to landing Seth Chingwaro

Fulham are closing in on signing Seth Chingwaro from Manchester City’s youth squad, with the midfielder set to sign professional terms with the London outfit.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Fulham are on the verge of signing Manchester City talent Seth Chingwaro in the coming days. The Cottagers have prised the talented midfielder away from the Man City academy and will offer him a long-term professional deal once he joins.

In recent times Manchester City have been a shrewd operator in the academy market. The club have managed to sell off many of their top talents emerging from the academy for massive profits, with the likes of Douglas Luiz, Cole Palmer, Morgan Rogers and Romeo Lavia just some of the names that have come through the club’s youth system.

Manchester City have continued to produce top talents in the background despite the difficulties for those youngsters to make it to the first team. With fierce competition in place, only the likes of Phil Foden and Rico Lewis have made it to the first team with any regularity. While there are others hanging on the periphery of the first team, like Oscar Bobb, the chances for others are remote.

For instance, 17-year-old Manchester City midfield sensation Seth Cingwaro is coming through the ranks and has been plying his trade with the U-18s. He signed a new scholarship deal with the club last summer and is now on the verge of a departure to Fulham.

Fulham have reportedly agreed a deal worth £750,000 with Manchester City to take the emerging midfielder. Chingwaro will sign his first professional contract at Craven Cottage, although he’s not expected to be part of Marco Silva’s first team just yet. The Cottagers are likely to tie him down on a long-term deal, with a clear pathway to the first team in the future.

Fulham’s view on the transfer of Chingwaro

Set Chingwaro is not the only player Fulham is keen on, as there are recent links to St Johnstone talent Brodie Dair. While fans will be demanding first-team signings for the here and now, the club is taking the long-term view into account and potentially bringing players who could develop into first-team stars in the future.

For instance, should the 17-year-old Manchester City midfield sensation Chingwaro make the cut into Silva’s first-team plans and flourish, he does save the club many millions they would have to spend on a new midfielder. Moreover, his price point also represents a solid resale value and profits for the club, although Manchester City might include some sort of sell-on percentage in the deal.
