Deivid Washington set to rejoin Santos on loan, personal terms talks advance

Chelsea’s forgotten prospect, Deivid Washington, is set to rejoin Santos on a loan deal, with personal terms not considered an issue.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Chelsea and Santos have agreed in principle to a loan deal for Deivid Washington. The 19-year-old forgotten prospect has been struggling for game time in the senior team since his move, as personal terms are not considered an issue in his bid to rejoin his former club in his native Brazil.

Deivid Washington was an emerging prospect at Santos. He had only played around 16 senior games for the Brazilian club in all competitions when Chelsea paid a hefty fee to sign him. At the same time, he was not expected to hit the ground running 18 months ago and has since been forgotten for most parts.

Washington made the move to Chelsea just a couple of months after turning 18, although in the time since, he has made only three senior appearances for the senior side. Only one of those came in the Premier League as a substitute, while all three of his games were last season and none in this campaign.

The 19-year-old forgotten prospect is tied until 2030 with an option of another year, meaning Chelsea is not in a hurry to ship him off permanently. The Blues had considered sending Deivid Washington out on loan this month, and there has been considerable interest in the forward.

Brazilian side Palmeiras were interested, and the move would have been suitable for all parties. However, there were more clubs in the mix including former side Santos, as they have an agreement in principle to re-sign the 19-year-old forgotten prospect on loan until June 2025.

Personal terms are not a problem for Deivid Washington

With Santos making some serious moves in the market, Washington might see the appeal in playing togetjher with Brazilian icon Neymar, who has returned to the club. As per Caught Offside, personal terms are not considered a problem for Washington to make the move back to Santos.

A move is expected to be sealed imminently, as a return to Santos will probably provide Deivid Washington to build a platform for himself once again after a lacklustre 18 months at Chelsea. While this is only a temporary opportunity for the young attacker, he must take full advantage of it and return with a conviction of breaking into Enzo Maresca’s senior side for next season.
