West Ham United and 22-year-old Ajax striker Brian Brobbey have reportedly sealed an agreement on a deal with £100,000-a-week wages.
According to a report by talkSPORT, Brian Brobbey is the subject of interest from West Ham United. The Hammers have been scouring the market for a striker heading into the winter transfer window and have set their sights on the Ajax attacker. The two parties have sealed an agreement over a long-term contract with £100,000-a-week wages. However, convincing Ajax might be a tall order.
Brian Brobbey and his rollercoaster of a career
Brian Brobbey has endured a career with considerable peaks and troughs since breaking into the first-team squad at Ajax in his first spell with the Eredivisie giants. That stint saw the Dutchman being with his boyhood club for over a decade before embarking on a short and frustrating time at RB Leipzig.
The 22-year-old has been with Ajax since January 2022, and he has endured a topsy-turvy second coming at the Eredivisie club. Goalscoring has been an issue for Brobbey this season, even though he has contributed to ten goals in 29 appearances across all competitions, finding the back of the net three times and providing seven assists.
Meanwhile, the Dutch striker’s stock in the market remains high, with several well-known clubs across Europe setting their sights on him. Recent reports have linked the highly-rated attacker with Premier League bigwigs like Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United. However, West Ham United will aim to beat the competition to his signature.
Premier League adventure beckoning?
West Ham United’s interest in Brian Brobbey makes sense. The Hammers have been scouring the market for a striker heading into the winter transfer window. They have lost Niclas Fullkrug, Michail Antonio, and Jarrod Bowen to long-term issues, leaving Graham Potter with Danny Ings as the only out-and-out striker in his squad.
So, several candidates, including Evan Ferguson, have emerged on West Ham United’s radar, with Brobbey also a viable target. The report has claimed that the Hammers have sealed an agreement on personal terms with the 22-year-old Dutchman, who will pocket £100,000-a-week wages if he moves to the London Stadium.
However, convincing Ajax to part ways with the highly-rated striker might be a tall order for West Ham. So, it will be interesting to see if the East London club can land the Dutch attacker after agreeing to £100,000-a-week wages with him.
