Manchester United internally discussing loan move for Christopher Nkunku

Ruben Amorim’s Manchester United are considering making a move to sign Chelsea attacker Christopher Nkunku on loan.

Manchester United could be quite busy in the final days of the transfer window as they look to reshape their attack. A few big-name stars could end up leaving Old Trafford in the coming days, and they are looking for players who could help replace them.

According to a report from Sky Sports, the Red Devils are internally holding talks regarding the potential signing of Christopher Nkunku. Manchester United are considering bringing him to the club on a loan deal from rivals Chelsea.

The Blues forked out a massive fee to sign Nkunku from RB Leipzig in the summer of 2023. He had a horror debut campaign as he spent the majority of the time on the sidelines. The French international has bounced back in fashion with an incredible first half of the season at the West London club.

Christopher Nkunku has 17 goal contributions in just over 1,200 minutes of first-team action. Despite being in red-hot form, the 27-year-old is not a regular starter under Enzo Maresca. The Frenchman is frustrated by the lack of minutes, and he has been considering his future at the club of late.

Manchester United could sign Nkunku on loan

Multiple top clubs are interested in signing Christopher Nkunku, who can feature anywhere in the final third. Manchester United have emerged as a potential destination for the PSG graduate. The Red Devils could end up parting ways with Marcus Rashford and Alejandro Garnacho in the coming days.

Rashford has fallen out of favour under Ruben Amorim, while Garnacho has been heavily linked with a move away amidst the club’s financial concerns. While the duo have not had that big a role under the Portuguese manager, their departure will leave a massive void.

As a result, Manchester United are looking to bring in a new forward who can help them in the short-term. The Red Devils are considering knocking on the doors of Chelsea for the services of Nkunku.

A permanent deal looks highly unlikely given Manchester United’s financial situation, they looking to sign him on loan and are currently holding internal talks on whether to proceed with it. The French international could be an ideal fit for Amorim’s system and with Chelsea interested in Garnacho’s signature, a middle ground could be found.
