Chelsea to compete with PSG for Jhon Duran

Chelsea are all set to battle it out with Paris Saint-Germain for the services of Aston Villa attacking sensation Jhon Duran.

Aston Villa’s Jhon Duran has attracted a significant amount of interest in the ongoing transfer window. He has had an impressive first half of the season and on the back of it, multiple top clubs are keen on acquiring his services.

According to a report from CaughtOffside, Chelsea are one of the clubs that are interested in the Colombian international and they are all set to compete with Ligue 1 giants PSG for his signature.

Duran did find it difficult to adjust to life in the Premier League upon his arrival at Villa Park at the start of 2023. While the initial phase was difficult, the 21-year-old has been doing wonders for them of late. Despite not being a regular starter under Unai Emery, he has 12 goals in just over 1,000 minutes of first-team action.

PSG’s pursuit of Duran

His performances haven’t gone unnoticed and multiple top clubs are looking to prise him away.  PSG are one of the clubs that are keen on acquiring his services. While they have already added Khvicha Kvaratskhelia to their squad in the ongoing window, the French giants want a new number nine having parted ways with Randal Kolo Muani.

Duran is considered an ideal fit for their project and they are pushing hard to secure his signature. The Ligue 1 outfit are ready to fork out €70 million to sign the 21-year-old. While they are still far from Villa’s astronomical valuation of €80m-€90m, PSG’s efforts will surely make the English club think twice before turning it down.

PSG to face competition from Chelsea

Meanwhile, Chelsea are ready to rival PSG in the pursuit of his signature. While Nicolas Jackson is doing an exceptional job in the final third of the pitch, the Blues want to bring in a young striker who can support him and cover for him.

Duran’s massive potential and his experience in the Premier League make him a perfect candidate. They would welcome the signing of such an incredible talent and have already knocked on the doors of Villa who at this point want to ensure the Colombian stays at the club until the end of the season.
