Chelsea accept offer for Cesare Casadei

Chelsea have reportedly accepted an offer from Lazio to sell midfielder Cesare Casadei, with the deal involving a percentage on future sale.

According to Alfredo Pedula, Lazio have made headway in their pursuit of Cesare Casadei as Chelsea have accepted an offer. The Blues are willing to sell the talented Italian midfielder with the deal involving a hefty percentage of future sale.

Cesare Casadei was supposed to be one of the most talented Italian prospects when Chelsea made a successful attempt to bring him two and a half years ago. Instead, they have not found a way to nurture his talents, as the player feels the need to play regularly elsewhere.

There’s been a lot of interest coming in for the midfielder, with Torino briefly considered the front-runner in his chase. Chelsea were adamant about selling the midfielder rather than using him as part of the loan system, with most of the interest coming from Italy.

Chelsea had wanted €20 million for the midfielder, although none of the itnerested Italian parties were keen on paying that much for a player who has barely played for the Blues. Lazio had a keen interest, and now it appears they have made headway in the chase.

As per the report, Chelsea have indeed accepted an offer from Lazio, who had been looking to add a young midfielder to their squad. They had eyes for Reda Belahyane, who Chelsea are incidentally looking at to replace Casadei. The story says the Blues have given their green light to a deal worth €12 million with a 25% sell-on clause attached, which Lazio presented.

Cesare Casadei deal good for Chelsea

Chelsea might have paid more for Casadei compared to Lazio’s offer they have accepted, although the attractive sell-on clause may end up making a profit for the club. In any case, they are not taking a major hit on their investment from two years ago, while they might have also benefited from loan fees that Reading and Leicester City must have paid.

In any case, the player is at the stage of his career where he needs to play regularly at a top-level club. There might have been a case of sending him on another loan, but a sale at this point with a sell-on clause seems good enough for all parties concerned, especially Lazio, who can develop him into a top star in Serie A.
