Brian Brobbey offered to Manchester United, Tottenham; West Ham United close to agreeing loan deal

Intermediaries have reportedly offered Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur the chance to sign Brian Brobbey, who will likely join West Ham United from Ajax this month.

According to a report by Graeme Bailey on TBR Football, Brian Brobbey is closing in on moving to the Premier League in the winter transfer window. Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur had the opportunity to sign the Ajax striker. However, the Dutch attacker will likely join West Ham United, with the East London club making progress in talks to secure his services on a loan deal until the end of the 2024/25 season.

Brian Brobbey and a rollercoaster career

Brian Brobbey has endured a topsy-turvy career since breaking out at Ajax over half a decade ago. The Dutchman was a hot property after making his splash at his boyhood club in his debut season. RB Leipzig soon came calling, but the spell with the Bundesliga club was a dud.

The 22-year-old returned to Ajax on loan in January 2022 before completing a permanent deal in the subsequent summer transfer window. Since then, Brobbey has been inconsistent, and he has contributed to only 10 goals in 29 appearances across all competitions this term, finding the back of the net three times and providing seven assists. However, a Premier League move is on the cards.

Premier League adventure on the horizon?

Intermediaries have offered Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur the chance to sign the Dutch striker in the winter transfer window. Recent reports also suggested that Tottenham submitted an enquiry for the Netherlands international. However, Graeme Bailey has claimed that the Lilywhites and Manchester United have not launched the offensive to secure his services.

Tottenham recently lost Dominic Solanke to a knee injury, while Joshua Zirkzee and Rasmus Hojlund have blown hot and cold at Manchester United. However, West Ham United will likely beat the two Premier League bigwigs to Brian Brobbey in the winter transfer window.

West Ham United’s interest in the 22-year-old Dutchman is understandable, considering Niclas Fullkrug, Michail Antonio, and Jarrod Bowen are long-term absentees. So, the Hammers need a new striker, with Graham Potter demanding more firepower in the final third. They have made progress in talks with Ajax over a loan deal until the end of the 2024/25 season.

A loan agreement should serve West Ham well, considering Brobbey’s recent inconsistency. However, a report by Fabrizio Romano has suggested that Ajax will demand a permanent deal. So, it will be interesting to see what the future has in store for the 22-year-old Dutch striker.
