Serie A giants Juventus are reportedly closing in on sealing a six-month loan deal for 21-year-old Chelsea utility man Renato Veiga.
According to a report by The Athletic, Renato Veiga has been the subject of interest from Juventus. The Serie A giants have secured a verbal agreement with Chelsea over a loan move for the Portuguese utility man until the end of the 2024/25 season. The Bianconeri will cough up a fee worth €5 million, but they will not have a purchase option in the arrangement.
Renato Veiga has been one of the latest victims of Chelsea’s infamous hoarding under the current ownership. The Blues have piled up players to create a bloated squad that has affected game times for several promising prospects. Carney Chukwuemeka, Deivid Washington, and Benoit Badiashile have already suffered due to that, and Veiga has also joined the club.
However, the 21-year-old has made his mark whenever Enzo Maresca has handed him game time thus far this season. Chelsea signed the versatile defender in a deal worth €14 million in the summer transfer window, and he has excelled as a left-back and a centre-back. In addition, Veiga can play as a holding midfielder.
The Portuguese utility man has turned out 18 times thus far this season while chipping in with two goals and one assist. However, Veiga is frustrated with his situation as he wants to play as a centre-back and is not receiving enough game time at Chelsea. So, the youngster has been eager to embark on a new adventure in the winter transfer window.
Renato Veiga does not have a shortage of clubs pursuing his signature, with recent reports linking him with Borussia Dortmund, Juventus, Marseille, and Lazio, among others. However, the Serie A giants have won the race to secure the young defender’s services after striking a loan agreement with Chelsea.
