Chelsea have been approached by multiple clubs for the services of their Brazilian attacking sensation Deivid Washington.
Chelsea made major changes to their transfer policies post their takeover in 2022. The Blues have been focused on signing the best young stars from across Europe. While the majority of those transfers have worked out, quite a few of them haven’t gone according to plan.
Deivid Washington’s transfer is one of those that hasn’t worked out so far as the teenager has hardly had any first-team action. While he remains a part of the Blues’ long-term plans, his agents are exploring a temporary exit from the club. According to Venê Casagrande, Santos and three other European clubs are keen on signing him this month.
Washington made a name for himself coming up the ranks at Santos. He got promoted to their first team in the summer of 2023 and a few months later, Chelsea acquired his services. The Blues handed him a lengthy contract that runs until 2030.
He started with their Under-21s. While the 19-year-old has done wonders at the youth level, he has only had three first-team appearances which is clearly not helping him grow as a player. Washington wants regular first-team action and is ready to part ways with the Blues for a more prominent role elsewhere.
Will Washington return to his former club?
Santos have emerged as a potential destination for the teenager. The Brazilian club want to re-sign their youth product on loan. His agent Giuliano Bertolucci is well aware of Santos’ interest and he did hold a meeting with Chelsea to discuss a return to his former club.
But, the Brazilian outfit are not the only ones who are keen on his signature, the report suggests there are three other European clubs who want to sign the 19-year-old. The Blues might consider sending him out on loan to a European club as a better alternative as it will help him get used to football in this part of the world. Meanwhile, the player’s agent is working hard to convince Chelsea to sanction a return to his former club Santos.
