Everton will reportedly look to sign 21-year-old English midfield whizkid Carney Chukwuemeka on loan from Chelsea in the winter transfer window.
According to a report by Give Me Sport, Carney Chukwuemeka is the subject of interest from Everton. The Toffees have been scouring the market for a midfielder heading into the winter transfer window and have set their sights on the rarely-used Chelsea whizkid. They have submitted an enquiry for the 21-year-old prospect, with the West London club demanding around £40 million to part ways with him.
Carney Chukwuemeka and his frustrating Chelsea journey
Carney Chukwuemeka arrived at Chelsea with a burgeoning reputation, with the West London club beating intense competition to secure his services in August 2022. However, the Englishman has endured a frustrating stint thus far with the West London club, with injuries and a lack of game time hampering him.
The 21-year-old has barely featured for Chelsea in the 2024/25 season, managing only 130 minutes of game time across five appearances in all competitions. While Enzo Maresca admires the former Aston Villa prodigy’s talent, the Italian tactician has barely handed any opportunities to the youngster.
So, it is hardly surprising that the English midfield sensation wants to explore a move away from Chelsea in the winter transfer window. Chukwuemeka does not have a shortage of clubs pursuing his signature, with Everton among his prospective suitors this month.
Move across the Premier League on the cards?
Everton’s interest in Carney Chukwuemeka is hardly surprising. The Toffees have been scouring the market for a midfielder heading into the winter transfer window amid the advancing years of Idrissa Gueye. In addition, Abdoulaye Doucoure is on the wrong side of 30. So, the rarely-used Chelsea whizkid is a viable target for Everton.
Interestingly, several other Chelsea players, including Ben Chillwell and Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, are on Everton’s radar. However, the Merseyside club will look to sign Chukwuemeka on loan for the rest of the 2024/25 season, having submitted an enquiry for the 21-year-old Englishman.
While Chelsea will demand around £40 million to part ways with Chukwuemeka, they might have to bite the bullet and accept a loan bid for him. So, it will be interesting to see if Everton can sign the English midfield prospect from Chelsea in the winter transfer window.
