Manchester United step up interest in Patrick Dorgu

Ruben Amorim’s Manchester United have decided to step up their pursuit of the services of Patrick Dorgu amidst interest from Chelsea and Tottenham.

Manchester United have been working very hard to reinforce their defence in the ongoing transfer window. The Portuguese manager is looking to add more quality as well as depth with the left-back position being one of the priorities for him.

Ruben Amorim has his eyes set on Patrick Dorgu. According to a report from CaughtOffside, the Red Devils are keen on signing him and have stepped up their interest in his signature.

The Danish international hasn’t looked back since making the move to Italy. He got promoted to US Lecce’s first team in the summer of 2023 and has been an integral part of their first team over the last 18 months.

The 20-year-old has made quite a name for himself thanks to his ability to play anywhere on either flank. His impressive rise and huge potential have put him on the radar of Manchester United.

Amorim wants Dorgu on a priority basis

The Red Devils want to sign a new left-back amidst Luke Shaw’s poor injury track record and Tyrell Malacia’s uncertain future. They see Dorgu as the perfect fit for Amorim’s 3-4-3 thanks to his ability to contribute on both ends of the pitch.

While United are keen on his signature, they are all set to face competition from Chelsea as well as Tottenham. The London club seek more quality on the flanks and Dorgu certainly fits their transfer plans which focus on signing the best young stars.

Meanwhile, Spurs are looking to bounce back in the second half of the season with the help of some reinforcement and the Lecce sensation is one of the names on their wishlist. They seek more quality in the wide areas and Dorgu’s versatility could be a bonus.

United are optimistic about signing Dorgu

Despite interest from Chelsea and Tottenham, United do not need to panic as they have already done some decent legwork on a potential transfer. The Manchester-based giants are stepping up their interest and according to a report from Corriere dello Sport via SportWitness, they are optimistic about securing his services.

The report suggests that United are within touching distance of his signature and representatives from their club have made the move to Italy as they look to strike a deal for the Danish international. The player is keen on making the move to Manchester and the report suggests a €35 million (including add-ons) offer could do the trick.
