Manchester City line up £84 million move for Raphinha amid Arsenal links

Manchester City are lining up a sensational bid worth £84 million to bring Raphinha next summer, with the Brazilian viewed as a marquee signing.

According to Fichajes, Manchester City are eager to sign Raphinha as their marquee arrival next summer. Pep Guardiola’s side are reportedly lining up a sensational £84 million move for the Brazilian, with Arsenal also keen on rekindling their long-standing interest in the 28-year-old Barcelona mainstay.

Manchester City have made the right moves this month by bringing three signings to the club already, with the possibility of a fourth arriving before the February 3rd deadline. They recently struck an agreement for Omar Marmoush with Eintracht Frankfurt, as the manager wanted to bring a prolific attacker into the squad.

Guardiola has also brought in two young defenders in Abdukodir Khusanov and Vitor Reis with their spending spree so far the best of all clubs this month. Manchester City are also considering a loan move for Douglas Luiz from Juventus, as Guardiola also wants to strengthen the midfield in the absence of talisman Rodri.

The club have already begun preparing plans for next summer, with a big attacking signing planned in the close season. Manchester City are eager to lure in Raphinha from Barcelona, and ready to make an £84 million bid to bring the 28-year-old mainstay back to England.

Raphinha is having his best season to date, with 22 goals and 11 assists across all competitions. Manchester City views him as a marquee signing for next summer, with Guardiola mightly impressed by the Brazilian’s output for the Catalans this season. However, any move will depend on Barcelona’s willingness to accept the financial offer and the player’s desire to play in the Premier League again.

Manchester City face Arsenal competition for Raphinha

As of now, the attacker seems happy with life in Catalonia. Manchester City’s idea of bidding £84 million is designed to beat competition for the Brazilian, with Arsenal and Liverpool among those keen on Raphinha. There is also the element of taking advantage of Barcelona’s financial troubles and testing the waters by making a stellar bid for the 28-year-old attacker.

Barcelona were not interested in Arsenal’s offer which previously was reported to be around £67.5 million, as they would be eager to maximise the Brazilian’s value. This is where Manchester City might get an advantage as they are confident of outmuscling their rivals, such as the Gunners, for the Brazilian attacker.
