Lloyd Kelly pushing for Newcastle United this month

Lloyd Kelly is reportedly open to leaving Newcastle United this month due to a lack of game time amid Juventus’s interest.

According to a report by Graeme Bailey on TBR Football, Newcastle United may have to consider an exit for Lloyd Kelly this month, with the defender open to departing St. James’ Park. The defender has lacked minutes since his summer move, with Juventus seemingly interested in signing the versatile star.

Lloyd Kelly has had a frustrating time since joining Newcastle United on a free transfer from Bournemouth in the summer. Initially, the Magpies had a shortage of centre-backs, which allowed Kelly to start games at the beginning of the season, but the minutes have dried up since.

Kelly has made only four starts this season in the Premier League, with Eddie Howe preferring to use Dan Burn in the left centre-back role, while Lewis Hall is preferred as the starting left-back this term. At best, the versatile defender is considered a solid backup option for either position.

Newcastle United are trying their best to keep hold of all current players during the January transfer window, including Kelly. The Magpies reportedly rejected a bid from Fenerbahce, which probably signalled Howe’s intention to keep hold of the players.

Recent reports have indicated otherwise, as there is a feeling within the club hierarchy to consider selling Kelly. A prominent transfer fee could help Newcastle United profit from the player who arrived on a free transfer in the summer, with the Magpies reportedly demanding at least £25 million to sell him.

Lloyd Kelly wants Newcastle United departure this month

Kelly is seemingly frustrated with his lack of minutes and being back up in the pecking order. He would reportedly like to leave the club this month for regular action, with Juventus among those interested and pushing for a move this month.

Juventus had Axel Disasi and AC Milan’s Fikayo Tomori on their list, although they might view Kelly as another option for those two stars. Whether they can bring the £25 million-rated Newcastle United 2024 signing remains to be seen, but a move is very much possible.
