Everton secure agreement to sign Ernest Nuamah

Everton are all set to secure the services of Olympique Lyon attacking sensation Ernest Nuamah in a deal worth €20 million.

According to a report from RMC Sport, Ernest Nuamah could soon make the move to Everton. The Premier League outfit have agreed a deal worth €20 million with Olympique Lyon. They are negotiating with the player at this stage but all parties are confident that the deal will go through.

Nuamah joined the French outfit in the summer of 2023 from sister club Molenbeek. It was an initial loan deal with an option to buy. While the Ghanaian international didn’t light up the world, they still ended up triggering the buy clause worth €28.5 million to permanently sign him last summer.

John Textor’s team were looking to sell him straightaway and record a profit. They had a deal in place with Fulham but the player was not ready to make the move and he didn’t show up for his medical. Eventually, the move collapsed.

Over the last six months, Lyon’s financial situation hasn’t improved and they are still looking to raise funds by selling Nuamah who has just two goal contributions in 18 matches for Lyon this season. The French club are in urgent need of balancing their books and they have already sanctioned a few departures.

Everton strike a deal for Nuamah

They have terminated the loan move of Wilfried Zaha and have sold Maxence Caqueret to Como for €15 million. Lyon have been in talks with Everton regarding the sale of Nuamah for a while now. The Toffees submitted a €20 million offer last week and it seems to have done the trick for the English outfit.

David Moyes who recently took charge of the club seeks more firepower in the final third and a young forward like Nuamah who can feature anywhere across the frontline can surely help his cause. He will provide him with a lot of tactical options in attack.

With their €20 million fee accepted, the Toffees have been working hard to convince the player regarding the wage and a move to England. All parties involved are confident that the player will soon give his green light to the move.
