Real Madrid have reportedly named their asking price for Aurelien Tchouameni, with Manchester City and Liverpool interested.
According to Fichajes, Manchester City and Liverpool will have to pay a hefty price to sign Aurelien Tchouameni, with Real Madrid naming their demands. The Spanish giants could disperse off with the French midfielder with the Premier League duo in the hunt for his signature.
Real Madrid have a solid enough player in Aurelien Tchouameni, but he is not someone who the club think is suited for the long-term future. Carlo Ancelotti has managed to keep him in an important role by drafting the Frenchman in his backline, but they have doubts about whether he can fulfil his promise as a super midfielder.
Real Madrid are willing to sell him for €80 million, which appears like a similar price they signed him from AS Monaco a few years ago. Manchester City reportedly have finds to sign Tchouameni, while Liverpool are also interested in the Frenchman.
Liverpool wanted him this January, but it was always going to be challenging to convince Real Madrid to sell. Sticking with the Merseysiders, and they wanted a defensive midfielder last summer and failed in their pursuit of top target Martin Zubimendi.
With Arsenal set to sign Zubimendi next summer, the Spaniard is no longer an option for Liverpool, and they will continue to look at alternatives, including Aurelien Tchouameni. Whether they are in a position to pay the €80 million required to sign the 24-year-old Real Madrid mainstay remains to be seen.
Manchester City well placed for Tchouameni
Manchester City are probably well-placed to sign Aurelien Tchouameni next summer, both financially and in terms of offering a solid enough sporting project. Pep Guardiola has wanted Bruno Guimaraes as his ideal midfield option and could urge the club to make a move for the Brazilian after the season ends.
However, there are challenges in signing the Brazilian, especially with the kind of price Newcastle United might demand for their star midfielder. Hence, the idea of signing Tchouameni could make sense for Manchester City, as the 24-year-old Real Madrid mainstay is also likely to be cheaper than Guimaraes.
