Brighton & Hove Albion will only make Evan Ferguson available on loan

Brighton & Hove Albion will only sanction a temporary departure of Evan Ferguson amidst interest from Arsenal, Chelsea and Everton.

Evan Ferguson might have only had limited game time this season but he still remains quite high on the wishlist of multiple clubs in England. There might not be any shortage of interest in him but according to a report from Graeme Bailey on TBR Football, Brighton are not ready to sanction a permanent departure at this stage.

The Seagulls will only entertain loan offers for their Irish striker who is on the wishlist of Arsenal as well as Chelsea. Meanwhile, the report suggests Everton have already taken a step towards signing the 20-year-old.

Ferguson has been a part of Brighton’s first team since the summer of 2022. He made quite an impressive start to his senior career but injuries have been a major hurdle for the young forward.

While he is quite highly rated by the people at the club, Ferguson hasn’t really been a regular in the team this season after recovering from an ankle injury that he suffered towards the end of last season.

Will Ferguson switch clubs in January?

He has only racked up 373 minutes of first-team action so far and has been linked with a move away in search of a more prominent role. Arsenal and Chelsea are two English giants who have been closely monitoring him for some time.

Both London clubs are aware of his massive potential and would love to have him in their squad. With Gabriel Jesus picking up an ACL injury, the Gunners need a new number nine. Meanwhile, the Blues need someone who can compete with as well as support Nicolas Jackson in the final third.

Ferguson could be a great acquisition for both clubs but they might not be able to sign him just yet. Brighton who value him at £60 million are not looking to sanction his departure in this window. Their chairman Tony Bloom is a massive fan of the 20-year-old and he will only entertain loan offers at this stage.

While Arsenal and Chelsea can’t sign him on a permanent basis, they will have to be quick if they want to acquire his services on loan as Everton have already taken the lead. The Toffees want more firepower and they have already made contacts to sign the Irish international.

The Seagulls are yet to give the green light to the move as both Danny Welbeck and Joao Pedro have recently picked up knocks and they are concerned about letting the Irish striker leave.
