Borussia Dortmund are reportedly keen on signing 21-year-old English midfielder Carney Chukwuemeka on loan from Chelsea this month.
According to reputed German journalist Patrick Berger, Bundesliga giants Borussia Dortmund are hoping to sign Chelsea prospect Carney Chukwuemeka on loan this month. Manager Nuri Sahin is reportedly a fan of the English prodigy, and it will be interesting to see if they can secure a deal to sign the 21-year-old before the winter transfer window closes.
Signing the Englishman on a loan deal would be a no-risk acquisition, and it would be an inexpensive one as well. Borussia Dortmund need to add more quality and depth in the middle of the park, and the youngster could be a useful player for them.
Carney Chukwuemeka has had limited opportunities at Chelsea, and he needs to leave the club to play more often. Sitting on the bench at a big club is unlikely to benefit him. The 21-year-old needs regular game time. If the Bundesliga club are prepared to provide him with game-time assurances, joining them would be the ideal next step in the player’s career.
Chukwuemeka needs a fresh start
Carney Chukwuemeka is highly rated across Europe, and he has a bright future ahead of himself. He could develop into a star with the right guidance. If Borussia Dortmund can get the best out of him, Chelsea might be able to sell him for a substantial amount of money in the summer. However, selling him permanently to the Bundesliga club might not be possible.
The English midfielder is not a key part of Enzo Maresca’s first-team plans, and he is unlikely to get regular opportunities during the second half of the season. It would be ideal for the Blues to send him out on loan so that he can gain some valuable first-team experience. Improved performances from the player in Germany will preserve his market value, and it will help him improve as well.
It will be interesting to see how the situation develops. The Bundesliga outfit have a reputation of helping young players develop into established first-team stars. The 21-year-old midfielder will certainly look to get his career back on track with a move to Borussia Dortmund if a deal can be agreed upon.
