Liverpool do not plan to move for Omar Marmoush

Liverpool have no plans to make a move for Omar Marmoush in this window, which does clear the path for Favourites Manchester City to sign the Egyptian.

According to Football Insider, Liverpool are not planning to swoop in for Omar Marmoush this month, as they may pursue other targets. The attacking side is not a priority for Arne Slot, as defensive and midfield additions are expected at Anfield, as the Eintracht Frankfurt man is not a target for the club.

Omar Marmoush seems like a big market opportunity for many teams in the Premier League. A host of those sides are chasing the Egyptian international, who has been having a terrific season over in Germany with Eintracht Frankfurt.

Marmoush has notched 18 goals and 12 assists in 24 appearances across all competitions this season, and his versatility in multiple attacking positions makes him a solid enough target. Frankfurt are open to selling him should they achieve their target of £50 million for the attacker, with Manchester City reportedly willing to pay the price.

Manchester City have already made a formal approach earlier, as Pep Guardiola is seemingly on top of this transfer chase. David Ornstein of the Athletic comfirned that talks are underway with Man City for Marmoush, although a deal is still far from completion.

Liverpool were also keen alongside other rivals for Marmoush, although the report states they are not planning on making a move for the 25-year-old this month. The Reds had been thinking of an attacking addition, although Arne Slot is likely to focus on other areas of the pitch in the winter window.

No Liverpool move for Omar Marmoush

For a few weeks now, there have been doubts about Darwin Nunez’s future, with suggestions that Liverpool were planning to sell him. With the market in Janaury being tight, it’s difficult to find suitors for an underperforming striker valued highly in terms of money to get a move, meaning Arne Slot may not look to make attacking additions.

Hence, they are not in the race for Marmoush, as Arne Slot would ideally focus on bringing defensive and midfield additions. Liverpool are in the thick of a title race as well as on top of the Champions League group, as fans are dreaming of some signings in this window to strengthen their cause of winning multiple honours.
