Barcelona are reportedly in talks with youngster Baba Kourouma over a new deal at the club following Manchester City links.
According to an update by Matteo Moretto, Barcelona have a huge task on their hands to convice 15-year-old defensive sensation Baba Bourouma to sign a new deal. Talks are underway with the youngster over a fresh agreement, as the Blaugrana are aware of Manchester City’s interest in the defender.
Barcelona’s La Masia continues to produce some of the brightest talents from around, and once again, they might have brought out a top prospect. 15-year-old defensive sensation Baba Kourouma, the younger brother of former prodigy Ilaix Moriba, has been making the news at the Catalan club’s academy.
The 15-year-old defensive sensation has already progressed through the ranks of his age group and is now drafted into the Under-18 side, which shows how far his development has gone. The young defender is considered a big prospect for the first team plans in the future, and going by recent call-ups to the senior side, Barcelona are likely to lean more towards internal solutions than dip into the transfer market.
The Catalan giants are strapped for cash to make any big moves in the transfer market and have relied on academy prospects to help the first team compete on all fronts. In the case of Kourouma, he has already shown the likelihood of making a senior debut sooner rather than later. However, it might still take the best part of two years for that to materialise.
In any case, they want to offer him a new contract ahead of the coming period and tie him down at the club to allow his development to continue. Barcelona are in talks with the 15-year-old defensive sensation over a fresh agreement and remains hopeful he will sign.
Manchester City interested in Baba Kourouma
Manchester City are in the market for young defenders and have recently been linked with RC Lens star Abdukodir Khusanov. The Premier League champions are always alert to the prospect of signing the best young profiles not only for their first team but also for the academy ranks.
Hence, they are keen to explore a move for Kourouma ahead of the coming period and could monitor the progress Barcelona makes in contract talks. As per the report, Manchester City is keen to sign Kourouma and loan him to one of their City Football Group-owned clubs to aid his development.
Such a prospect could be good for the 15-year-old defensive sensation’s career. However, the likelihood of leaving La Masia might prove difficult for the youngster, even if it means rejecting the overtures of Manchester City.
