West Ham United preparing fresh offer to sign Brais Mendez

West Ham United have reportedly formulated an improved bid worth €70 million to sign Brais Mendez after failing to convince Real Sociedad with an offer of €60 million.

According to a report by Spanish outlet Fichajes, Brais Mendez is the subject of interest from West Ham United. The Hammers have already failed with a proposal of €60 million for the Real Sociedad playmaker. They have now prepared an improved bid worth €70 million to convince La Real to part ways with the Spanish international.

The rise of Brais Mendez in the Basque Country

Brais Mendez has been among the most underrated midfielders in La Liga since joining Real Sociedad from Celta Vigo in July 2022. A native of Mos, the Spaniard spent his formative years with four clubs in his homeland and graduated from the youth division at Celta Vigo nearly a decade ago.

The 27-year-old has been a mainstay in the middle of the park for Real Sociedad in the last 30 months. Mendez has turned out over 100 times thus far for La Real while chipping in with 22 goals and 20 assists. The player’s progress has also helped him establish a foothold in his national squad.

Meanwhile, the Spanish midfielder’s exploits for his club and country have not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of several well-known clubs across Europe. Premier League outfits, in particular, are keen on signing Mendez, with West Ham United among his prospective suitors.

London calling?

West Ham United’s interest in Brais Mendez is understandable. The Hammers are scouring the market for a central attacking midfielder amid uncertainties surrounding the long-term future of Lucas Paqueta. So, Mendez has emerged as a viable target for West Ham, with the East London outfit beginning negotiations with Real Sociedad.

The Hammers have already failed with a bid worth €60 million to sign the Spaniard, with La Real looking for a higher transfer fee. So, they have prepared an improved proposal to land the 27-year-old, and West Ham might offer €70 million to secure his services.

It is unclear if a bid worth €70 million will be enough to convince Real Sociedad to part ways with the Spanish international. West Ham will hope the sizeable transfer fee can help them land Mendez’s signature this year.
