AC Milan are reportedly open to discussing a loan move for Darwin Nunez with Liverpool, as the proposal could include a purchase option.
According to Fichajes, AC Milan is ready to push for Darwin Nunez’s signing on an initial loan deal. The Rossoneri are eager to open talks with Liverpool over a temporary deal in January, which could consist of a significant purchase option.
Darwin Nunez is not having a good season at Liverpool, as he has felt the pressure of many things since Arne Slot took over. He’s not the automatic first choice for the Dutch manager, with Diogo Jota preferred in the No.9 role over the Uruguayan. At the same time, Cody Gakpo is ahead of him in the pecking order.
Both Jota and Gakpo have been more prolific than Nunez, with constant questions being asked about his abject finishing in front of the goal and missing many big chances. While those missed opportunities have not come to hurt Liverpool in a big way, Arne Slot might be open to changing the scenario byt allowing Nunez a move away from the club.
Barcelona have held an interest, but given their difficult financial standing, any move might seem impossible at this stage. Liverpool might look to recoup most of the money they paid to sign him from Benfica back in 2022; it may feel like Nunez’s market value has plummeted.
Liverpool are already considering a few striker options, with Eintracht Frankfurt’s Omar Marmoush considered a key target. Should they manage to offload Nunez in January, a move for a new attacker this month could be possible, as AC Milan are looking to steal a march on the Nunez pursuit.
AC Milan plot loan move for Darwin Nunez
AC Milan are hopeful of signing Nunez, and with the report stating that Liverpool are willing to offload the Uruguayan, things could accelerate in the background. The Rossoneri are eager to put forward a loan proposal which could come with a €55 million buy option. While the figures are much less than what the Reds paid Benfica, this offer might be viewed as an opportunity to get the best possible price for Nunez.
Nunez has been in the news lately for liking an Instagram post linking him to AC Milan, which might be interpreted as an indirect suggestion of an impending transfer to the Serie A giants. It remains to be seen how concrete the Rossoneri are in their pursuit of Nunez, as Liverpool might sanction a loan departure for the Uruguayan.
