Newcastle United and Tottenham to battle for the services of Vitor Roque, and Barcelona looking to use him in a swap deal to sign Viktor Gyokeres.
According to a report from CaughtOffside, Newcastle United are Tottenham Hotspur are both keen on acquiring the services of Vitor Roque. Both English clubs are closely monitoring his situation and could pounce on an opportunity to sign him.
While Barcelona seem to be ready to part ways with the youngster, they are plotting an ambitious swap deal to sign Viktor Gyokeres from Sporting CP. The Catalan giants are looking to use Roque to bring down the Swedish international’s asking price.
After making a name for himself while playing for Athletico Paranaense, Roque made a big-money move to the Spanish giants at the start of 2024. Unfortunately, he couldn’t break into Xavi’s team and spent the majority of the time on the bench.
Hansi Flick who took over from Xavi didn’t really have him in his plans and Barcelona ended up sending him out on loan to Real Betis. While he has been doing a decent job this season, the Catalan giants are not really sure if he could live up to their expectations.
English clubs are keen on signing Roque
As a result, they are open to his departure. While he might not be good enough to be a regular starter in Flick’s team, he is still quite highly rated and multiple top clubs want to sign him. Tottenham and Newcastle are two English clubs who are keeping a close eye on him.
The North London club wants to freshen things up after a poor start and they are willing to bet on the 19-year-old who can surely turn things around. Meanwhile, the Magpies are looking to bring in a young striker to complement Alexander Isak. Roque will be an ideal fit for their long-term plans.
Barcelona plot player-plus-cash deal to sign Gyokeres
While both English clubs are ready to raid Barcelona for his signature, they seem to have different plans for Roque. The Catalan giants are looking to use him to pursue their ambitious move of in-form Swedish striker Gyokeres.
They are planning for the long run and consider the Swedish international the perfect replacement for Robert Lewandowski. Barcelona are well aware of the amount of interest in him and they are looking to lower Sporting’s demands by offering Roque’s services.
The Portuguese club were interested in the teenager back in the day and they could consider going ahead with a player plus cash deal for their star forward who has been scoring goals for fun.
