Newcastle United, Tottenham interested in Jack Grealish

Newcastle United and Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly interested in signing struggling 29-year-old English attacker Jack Grealish from Manchester City.

According to a report by Daily Mail, Jack Grealish will unlikely leave Manchester City in the winter transfer window, with Pep Guardiola insisting no player will depart from the Etihad next month. However, Newcastle United and Tottenham Hotspur are keeping tabs on the struggling 29-year-old attacker’s situation at their fellow Premier League club.

Jack Grealish and a topsy-turvy ride at Manchester City

Jack Grealish has blown hot and cold since joining Manchester City from Aston Villa in a big-money move in August 2021. The Englishman was among the best players in the Premier League when the Citizens broke the bank to secure his services three and a half years ago.

However, the 29-year-old has struggled after a decent start to life at Manchester City, gradually becoming a peripheral figure at the Etihad. Grealish has not even completed 1,000 minutes of game time across 18 appearances across all competitions while chipping in with two assists.

Meanwhile, despite struggling to become an undisputed first-choice starter for Manchester City, Grealish’s stock in the market remains high. Newcastle United and Tottenham Hotspur are among the prospective suitors for the signature of the English international. However, a winter move will unlikely see the light of day, with Pep Guardiola concerned about the depth of his squad.

Move across Premier League on the horizon?

Newcastle United’s interest in Jack Grealish is understandable. The Magpies are eager to part ways with Miguel Almiron in the winter transfer window, with the Paraguayan international working on sealing his departure from St. James’ Park next month. So, Grealish has emerged as a viable target for Newcastle United, as his versatility can help him become an asset in the final third.

As for Tottenham Hotspur, Grealish can be a multi-faceted solution in the final third, considering his ability to play through the central areas and on the flanks. So, he can be an alternative to Richarlison amid uncertainties surrounding the long-term future of the Brazilian international.

However, as iterated earlier, Guardiola does not want Manchester City to part ways with any player in the winter transfer window. So, Newcastle United and Tottenham Hotspur must wait to land the 29-year-old English international amid his struggles at Manchester City.
