Brighton & Hove Albion want £80-100 million for Evan Ferguson amid Chelsea links

Chelsea will have to break the bank and fork out £80-100 million if they want to sign Brighton & Hove Albion striker Evan Ferguson.

Chelsea are on the lookout for a new striker as they look to further bolster their attack. According to a report from talkSPORT, the Blues are interested in acquiring the services of Brighton & Hove Albion’s Evan Ferguson but will have to fork out £80-100 million to acquire his services.

After coming up the ranks at Irish club Bohemians, Ferguson made the move to Brighton at the start of 2021. He had an impressive stay life in England and managed to break into the Seagulls’ first team ahead of the 2022/23 season.

While he was off to a flying start at the senior level, things haven’t been that great for the 20-year-old of late. He only has one goal this season and has been on the pitch for less than 400 minutes. Despite that, there is no shortage of interest in him.

Chelsea to push for Ferguson’s signature

Chelsea are one of the clubs that are keen on the signature of Evan Ferguson. The Blues want to bring in a new striker who can share the goalscoring load with Nicolas Jackson and they feel Ferguson could be an ideal fit for the short as well as the long run.

They have a long-standing interest in the services of the Irish international and are now looking to make a move for him. But, signing him in January won’t be that easy as Brighton won’t let him leave on the cheap. Despite his poor form, the Seagulls want a massive fee of around £80-£100 million for their attacking sensation.

With his current deal running until the summer of 2029, the team in white and blue will have the upper hand in negotiations. While the Blues are keen on signing a new striker, the asking price is a touch on the higher side and it will surely make things difficult for them. A deal might only be possible if Brighton would be willing to lower their demands which looks unlikely at this stage.
