Dutch giants Ajax are interested in signing Arsenal’s teenage defensive sensation Ayden Heaven.
According to a report from Voetbal4u, Ajax are keen on acquiring the services of Ayden Heaven who has shown a lot of promise coming up the ranks at Arsenal. The teenager’s contract at the North London club is expiring and the Dutch club could look to make the most out of it.
Heaven was a part of the West Ham United youth setup back in the day but he made the switch to Arsenal towards the end of 2019. He has gone up the ranks at some pace and is currently a part of their Under-21 setup at the age of 18.
While he is yet to be promoted to the senior side, he recently made his debut in an EFL Cup fixture against Preston End. He has been a consistent performer for the Gunners at the youth level and is quite highly rated by the people at the club.
While everyone at Arsenal has high hopes for Heaven, they are yet to secure his long-term future. His current deal runs out in the summer of 2025 and the former West Ham youth star could part ways with the club next summer.
Ajax want to sign Heaven
The Gunners are yet to offer him a new deal and multiple top clubs are keeping a close eye on Heaven’s situation. Ajax are one of the clubs that are looking to take advantage of the situation.
The 18-year-old who is likened to their former star Calvin Bassey has all the skills needed to succeed at the Dutch club. The English youth international is quite good on the ball and is capable enough to play it out from the back just like the Fulham star.
While he prefers playing in the heart of the defence, the young star can also start out wide on the left flank. Ajax are known to develop young stars and joining them could give Heaven an opportunity to fast-track his development with regular first-team action.
With his contract running out, Ajax have a golden opportunity to sign the young star next year but the Gunners won’t make it easier as they will keep pushing for a new deal. However, the final call will be that of the player.
