Real Madrid closing in on securing pre-contract agreement to sign Trent Alexander-Arnold

Real Madrid are close to agreeing a pre-contract with Liverpool defensive mainstay Trent Alexander-Arnold regarding a free transfer in 2025.

According to AS via Sport Witness, Real Madrid are close to securing the services of Trent Alexander-Arnold. There is a lot of optimism around the Spanish club that the Liverpool star will put pen to paper on a pre-contract agreement when the transfer window reopens in a few days time.

Alexander-Arnold broke into the Liverpool first team in the summer of 2016 and he hasn’t looked back since. The English full-back has established himself as a key figure in the team and has played a massive part in all the success they have had in recent years.

He remains one of the first names on their team sheet under Arne Slot and has been one of the reasons why they are top of the Premier League and have already made it to the knockout rounds of the Champions League. While everything on the pitch has been great, the 26-year-old’s future has been uncertain for some time.

His current deal runs out at the end of the season. The Reds have been trying to extend his stay, but their efforts have not yielded any results so far. Liverpool continue to push but it seems Real Madrid have won the race for his signature.

Los Blancos have been on the lookout for a new right-back. Dani Carvajal and Lucas Vazquez are both in the twilight of their career, and they want to bring in someone who can take up that position in the long run, thus setting their sights on Trent Alexander-Arnold.

Madrid close to securing Alexander-Arnold’s services

Trent Alexander-Arnold is seen as an ideal fit and the team in white have been working on a potential free transfer for some time. With Carvajal out injured for the ongoing campaign, they would have preferred a move in January but they seem to have accepted that they won’t succeed in bringing him to Madrid in January.

As a result, they have been pushing to secure a pre-contract agreement and according to the report, the English international is on the verge of signing for Real Madrid once the winter window is open. The move is believed to be almost complete.

Los Blancos are looking to get all the contractual details finalised in January but they are unlikely to make any announcements as they do not want to offend Liverpool.
